Israel ‘terrorist’ slur on Palestinian human rights groups

Statement by the Balfour Project

On 22 October Israel’s Defence Minister designated six Palestinian human rights NGOs as ‘terrorist’.

The aim appears to be to stem the flow of information about breaches of human rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. The Balfour Project joins Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and Israeli human rights organisations in condemning this decision, and calls upon the British Government to demand that it be rescinded. Peaceful Palestinian human rights defenders must not be subjected to such allegations, without any recourse to independent scrutiny.
